Cunningham Creek, Ohio: Only Yesterday

I thought I was starting to know something about lighthouses. After all, I have been researching and writing about lighthouses for over five years now. Then one day I was looking for some keeper's information in one of the microfilms produced by the National Archives, and on the oldest reel, I suddenly came to a lighthouse I never heard of before. "Cunningham Creek Ohio, J. R. Cunningham keeper starting 24 April 1843, at $350, Henry Richardson keeper starting 5 February 1846," and then, "this light abandoned." I was intrigued. I continued to the next set of data, looking for a Cunningham Creek entry for the year 1849 or later and found nothing. Hum, now  this was interesting, the light apparently was abandoned. But, where was it located? I live in Ohio, so I should know. I pulled out an Ohio map looking for Cunningham Creek somewhere on Lake Erie. Nothing. I looked in Hyde's book "The Northern Lights." Nothing. I have an old Light List for 1839 and in it I found, "number 185 Cunningham Creek Beacon, on Lake Erie, number of lamps 3, size of reflectors 15 inch, bacon on pier." I also have a Light List for the year 1849 and it contained nothing on Cunningham Creek. Well, it really must have been abandoned before 1849, but where was it?
