The Tawas Point Lighthouse is celebrating 150 years with a two-day anniversary kickoff celebration next month.

The USSR had nuclear-powered lighthouses lining its artic coast, and they became as big a problem as you can imagine

No one wants to be a lighthouse keeper in the Arctic coast of the Far North, not even the hardiest of Russian harden. To manage this personnel problem, the USSR came up with a bold plan: to line its icy shores with nuclear-powered lighthouses.

Repair work complete, Heceta Head Lighthouse, OR, shines again

One of Oregon Coast's iconic lighthouses is once again shining.

After nearly five months of darkness due to mechanical repairs, the Heceta Head Lighthouse south of Yachats is again shining its light for locals, visitors, and ships at sea, according to Oregon State Representative David Gomberg.

Squaw Point Lighthouse, MI: Gone but not forgotten

Although the Squaw Point Lighthouse has vanished from the shoreline, its legacy endures in the stories of the Keepers who maintain it and the mariners who relied on its beacon.

On March 2, 1895, Congress approved the sum of $5,000 to establish a light at or near Squaw Point to aid vessels entering the ports of Gladstone and Masonville.

Split Rock Lighthouse, MN, is hosting a Community Night & Beacon Lighting July 31

You may have noticed scaffolding around the iconic Split Rock Lighthouse in previous months.

Historic lantern set to return to Cedar Island Lighthouse, NY

The historic Cedar Island Lighthouse is preparing for a major milestone as the Friends of the Cedar Island Lighthouse announces the return of its historic lantern.
