Bodie Island Lighthouse (NC) opens Friday for climbing season
Bodie Island Lighthouse is opening Friday for the summer climbing season, according to the National Park Service.
The light station, famous for its unique horizontal black and white stripes, is located at the northern end of Cape Hatteras Seashore. The street address is 8210 Bodie Island Lighthouse Rd. in Nags Head.

Tawas Point Lighthouse (MI) having a grand reopening ceremony on May 2
A grand reopening ceremony for the Tawas Point Lighthouse in the Tawas Point State Park will be held on May 2.
The event will be held from 11 am to 4 pm, starting with an official reopening ceremony. Following the ceremony, visitors can check out vendor booths, including the Tawas Bay Art Gallery, Heritage Coast Sailing and Rowing and Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, live music and lunch from food trucks, browse the gift shop and take a free tour of the lighthouse.

Driving Trip for Rare Florida Lighthouse History
Wakulla County is well known for its famous pre-Civil War lighthouse at St. Marks. Prominent in local advertising and travel suggestions, the lighthouse and its corresponding wildlife preserve are a popular regional destination for adventures, nature enthusiasts and history buffs.
But the St. Marks light is not the only lighthouse in these parts; in fact, there are FOUR historic lighthouses along the Forgotten Coast, each with their own unique history and experience for visitors to enjoy.

Absecon Lighthouse (NJ) seeking volunteers to greet visitors to Atlantic City landmark
The Absecon Lighthouse is looking for volunteers to become greeters for New Jersey's tallest lighthouse.
The call comes after a "long and cold winter" that included the death of its most recognizable volunteer, George "Buddy" Grover, 96. Grover, a fixture at the lighthouse since 2009, died in January. Called an "ambassador" and a shining light in the community, Grover was a tower greeter who met visitors at the top of their 228-step climb to congratulate them on their feat and answer questions.

Here's what's going on with the restoration of the Piedras Blancas lighthouse (CA)
Restoration work is underway at the Piedras Blancas Light Station to bring the historic landmark back to life.
"I think it's great. The more historical sites that they refurbish and bring back the better," said Anna Marie Avalos, a Cambria resident who was touring the lighthouse on Thursday.

Iconic Green Point Lighthouse (South Africa) has seen 200 winters
Commissioned on April 12, 1824, Green Point lighthouse, often erroneously called Mouille Point lighthouse that was built years on the present site of Cape Peninsula University of Technology at Granger Bay, has been a navigation beacon for 200 winters!
It is the oldest lighthouse in southern Africa, and, taking bearings on it, thousands of ships have passed that way in wartime, in peace, in calm weather and amid extremely heavy seas.

Tourism secretary: Fort King George lighthouse (Tobago) to shine again
The Tobago House of Assembly is expected to begin work on the lighthouse infrastructure at Fort King George, Scarborough, in May.
Making the announcement on April 17 at the post-executive council media briefing at the Shaw Park Cultural Complex, Secretary of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation Tashia Burris said the "major renovation" will also involve sourcing a light for the historic landmark.
