The Wind Point Lighthouse, a beacon of history and community in Racine County, is seeking individuals with a passion for maritime lore and a dedication to community service. This unique opportunity as a Lighthouse Keeper combines the romance of history with the hands-on stewardship of one of the Great Lakes' most renowned navigational aids.
Perched on the scenic shores of Lake Michigan, the Wind Point Lighthouse not only guides vessels but also stands as a testament to our local heritage.

Heceta Lighthouse (OR) celebrates 130 years
Trails from the Beach to the Lightkeeper's house to the Heceta Head Lighthouse hosted a steady stream of visitors for the Lighthouse's 130th anniversary March 30.
"The weather was absolutely our friend today," said volunteer docent Sandy Coleman, who noted that turnout for the birthday celebration was higher than normal and steady all day long.

Community rallies behind $1.1M project to restore Frankfort North Lighthouse
Sitting together on Frankfort Beach, you wouldn't guess that Brenda Wade and Michele Blair haven't been lifelong friends.

Group seeks to preserve historic Nova Scotia lighthouse as DFO builds steel tower replacement
Roughly 32 kilometers off the southwest coast of Nova Scotia, a lighthouse has rested on Seal Island for close to 200 years, warning ships away from jagged rocks and attracting admirers of its rich history like Mary McLaren.
"I'm a seasonal resident of Seal Island," said McLaren, board member with the Seal Island Lighthouse Preservation Society. "I've been going there with my parents since I was very small. I have that connection, but it's also the historical aspect of it."

The East End: The Montauk Point (NY) Lighthouse
The lighthouse has stood tall for almost 230 years, a 110-foot sandstone guiding beacon and symbol of voyage.
Montauk may only have a population of about 3,000 people, but it is filled with big attractions and a lot of history.

Watch total solar eclipse defy cloud cover and wash over Selkirk (NY) Lighthouse
Traveling nearly 1500 mph, the shadow of the moon swept across North America from Mexico to Canada April 8, 2024, for the highly anticipated total solar eclipse. But a storm system pushing to the Northeast left many places covered, including Pulaski.
Dozens trickled in to the Selkirk Lighthouse and Marina at the mouth of the Salmon River where it spills out onto Lake Ontario's eastern shore

Cape Henlopen (DE) Lighthouse stands in 1926
Ninety-eight years ago April 13, the iconic Cape Henlopen Lighthouse fell from its perch on top of a dune overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A beacon that had stood along the coast since before the Revolutionary War was gone in the blink of an eye on what was reportedly a beautiful spring day.
According to Volume XVII of the Journal of the Lewes Historical Society, the lighthouse was completed in either 1765 or 1767; there are conflicting records.

On This Day In History - April 10, 1987: Rose Island (RI) Lighthouse added to National Register of Historic Places
On this day in history in 1987, Rose Island Lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
Constructed in 1870, Narragansett Bay's iconic Rose Island Lighthouse was built on top of a bastion of Fort Hamilton. The fort, including the lighthouse, is preserved, maintained and operated by The Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation.
