Medical emergency at St. Mary's Lighthouse, UK, sparks RNLI rescue
A person who suffered a medical emergency while stranded at a lighthouse had to be rescued by RNLI volunteers.
The patient took ill on Saturday at St Mary's Lighthouse, in Whitley Bay, but found themselves trapped on Bates Island because the causeway was submerged during high tide.

Why Portland Head Light, ME, is America's most photographed lighthouse
There are scores of picturesque lighthouses along the rocky coast of Maine, but none more iconic than Portland Head Light.
The white-and-black beacon is the "most photographed lighthouse in America and the oldest in Maine," according to its website. It even predates the state.

GSA seeks to transfer Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse to eligible community organizations
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced today that eligible organizations can acquire the historic Cleveland Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse at no cost through the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act (NHLPA) of 2000.
Built in 1910, this brick lighthouse at the entrance to Cleveland Harbor offers stunning skyline views and exceptional potential for transformation into a museum, educational center, or cultural venue.

Tarrytown Lighthouse, NY, reopens after vandalism repairs. See inside
The historic Tarrytown Lighthouse has reopened for the second time in two years after vandalism prompted more repairs to be done.
The Westchester County Parks Department said the lighthouse reopened for tours on April 4 after an arson and vandalism spree in 2025 caused more than $100,000 in damages to the structure.

Bodie Island Lighthouse, NC, to reopen for climbing Aprill 22
The Bodie Island Lighthouse will reopen for public climbing on April 22, according to the National Park Service.
Climbing opportunities will initially be available Wednesday through Saturday, with a transition to seven-days-a-week access planned for mid-May.

Historic Hunstanton Lighthouse, UK, preserved with new roof permission
A historic lighthouse on the north Norfolk coast is set to undergo essential roof repairs as part of efforts to preserve the landmark for future generations.
West Norfolk Council has approved plans to replace both the aging slate tiles and a deteriorating flat felt roof at the well-known structure in Hunstanton.
