'Save Our Light' campaign nearly fully funded to restore Muskegon's Breakwater Lighthouse, MI
The Muskegon South Breakwater Lighthouse, a landmark since 1931, is nearly fully funded for restoration, but the community still needs to raise the final $225,000 to see the project through.
The 'Save Our Light; campaign launched in September 2025 with a $1.6 million goal.

SkyEye One flies over the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse, NY
SkyEye One takes you on a flight over the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse.
Built in 1934 to replace an earlier light constructed in 1880, it stands at the end of a 2,000-foot-long breakwater.

Elbow Reef Lighthouse, Bahamas, Guide: History, Views, Hope Town Access & Maritime Heritage
Elbow Reef Lighthouse is one of the most famous landmarks in the Abaco Islands and one of the most historically significant navigation aids in The Bahamas.
Standing above Hope Town on Elbow Cay, the lighthouse has guided vessels through the waters surrounding Elbow Reef since the 1860's and remains a symbol of Abaco's maritime heritage.

Archaeologists recover parts of the Lighthouse of Alexandria from Mediterranean seafloor
Archaeologists have recovered massive stone blocks from the remains of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, on e of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, in a major step toward digitally reconstructing the iconic monument that once guided ships across the Mediterranean.
The discovery forms part of the PHAROS Project, an international initiative bringing together France's National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Dassault Systems Foundation.

'We could make a million dollars:' Amelia Island Lighthouse, FL, tourism ideas alarm nearby residents
Property owners living adjacent to the historic Amelia Island Lighthouse are raising concerns over proposals that could increase tourism activity at one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.
At last Tuesday's City Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC) meeting, three homeowners voiced worries about how potential changes designed to expand public access and generate revenue from the lighthouse could affect their quality of life.

Point Prim Lighthouse, PEI's oldest lighthouse getting all new shingles for first time since 1950s
The Point Prim Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in Prince Edward Island, is about to get a long-overdue exterior overhaul.
The wooden shingles that cover its sandstone brick tower are being replaced for the first time in decades.

Titanic Memorial Lighthouse, NY, Restoration Completed
The Titanic Memorial Lighthouse, erected at the corner of Fulton and Water Street, is a memorial dedicated to honor RMS Titanic's passengers, officers, and crew who perished when the ship sank after collision with an iceberg on April 14, 1912.
It was originally erected on the roof of the Seamen's Church Institute (SCI), 240 feet above sea level, at the corner of South Street and Coenties Slip (now Vietnam Veterans Plaza), on April 15, 1913.

Florida's lighthouses have stood sentinel over some of the state's most harrowing history
I began to feel the history under my feet around step nine, as I looked up the seemingly never-ending spiraling cast-iron steps.
By step 87, my quads began to feel the burn. It was in that moment that my tour guide's 5-minute stretching routine before our climb up the 108-foot-tall lighthouse made sense.
