Participants may enjoy these one-hour interactive programs individually or as a three-part series. They are suitable for 6th grade students through high school as well as adult life-long learners. Younger participants are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Iconic Algoma lighthouse, WI, moved from waterfront to Sturgeon Bay for facelift amid pier work
As of Tuesday afternoon, the view looking out at Lake Michigan from Algoma is a bit different.
"For everybody in the city, it's quite the iconic feature. It just sits east of the whole city of Algoma here," said Algoma City Administrator Matt Murphy.

Saving the Hillsboro Lighthouse: Community unites to preserve historic Florida beacon
For more than 100 years, the Hillsboro Lighthouse has stood watch along the shoreline.
"This is the oldest monument in Broward County. It was manufactured in 1906, turned on here in 1907, and since then, it has been something that everybody loos forward to seeing," said Ken Herman, Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society president.

Two ladies, a dog, a lighthouse and a possible Bigfoot encounter on a beach in Michigan
Out in the woods in the middle of nowhere isn't the only place people claim to have seen Bigfoot and not been able to get a single picture of the creature.

Two Michigan lighthouses just received major funding to preserve thier historic character
The Michigan State Historic Preservation Office has awarded $120,000 in grants to support restoration work at two historic lighthouses, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced.
The Grand Havens Entrance Light and the keepers quarters at Whitefish Point Light Station in Chippewa County will each receive $60,000 through the Michigan Lighthouse Assistance Program.

MPA launches regular tours to 130-year-old Sultan Shoal Lighthouse, Singapore
Elegant in appearance, skillful designed and "thoroughly substantial in every particular" was how a December 1895 article described Sultan Shoal Lighthouse when it was just built.
"It has all the appearances of durability and solidity," the article said of the lighthouse, which had cost about $34,000 and began operations the next year.

New book examines Cockspur Lighthouse, GA, history
A new book chronicling the story of the last of several lighthouses that once lined the banks of the Savannah River will be released on Wednesday, June 10.
"The Cockspur Island Lighthouse - A Witness to History" examines "the little lighthouse that could" and the efforts to restore it made by the Friends of the Cockspur Island Lighthouse.

Gurnet Light, MA, is now in good hands
Project Gurnet and Bug Lights has been awarded Plymouth Light Station, better known as Gurnet Light, by the Department of the Interior.
Ownership of the lighthouse was transferred to PG&BL through the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act, which provides a process for transferring federal lighthouses into private hands
