Citizens raising money to save historic Algoma North Pier, WI, catwalk
Demolition is underway on the catwalk on Algoma's North Pier, a landmark that's been part of the waterfront for generations.
The pier is set to be reconstructed by the Army Corps of Engineers, with Rowan Salvage Company serving as the contractor.

Lewes officials discuss future of Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse, DE
Lewes officials and preservation advocates are beginning discussions on how to protect the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse, a historic Delaware landmark threatened by erosion and aging infrastructure.
The lighthouse was the focus of Monday night's Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, where members heard a presentation from Ron Parks, president of the Delaware River and Bay Lighthouse Foundation.

First keeper of Thomas Point Shoal Shoal Lighthouse, MD, to be honored at Annapolis Gravesite
A Civil War veteran who became the first head keeper of the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse will be honored in Annapolis on June 7 with a graveside ceremony and the placement of a commemorative plaque.
The ceremony for Eugene Burchenal is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his gravesite in Annapolis in the St. Anne's Cemetery on Northwest Street.

Salem's Baker's Island Light Lens returns home after more than 50 years
A historic lens that once guided ships into the port of Salem is back on Baker's Island after more than 50 years away.
Essex Heritage brought the original Baker's Island Light 4th Order Fresnel lens from the Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland, Maine, to Baker's Island Light Station in Salem.
