Point Vicente Lighthouse, CA, marks 100th birthday during 'Whale of a Day' celebration
The Palos Verdes Peninsula community celebrated the Pointe Vicente Lighthouse's centennial on Saturday, April 25 - and it was a "whale" of a good time.
The annual Whale of a Day event, which was founded more than 40 years ago, once again celebrated the annual migration of the Pacific gray whale on Saturday, after rain caused it to be postponed two weeks ago.

"A nice 77 steps" to the top of Marblehead, OH, during Lake Erie Lighthouse Fair
Katie Manion, Amanda Little and Chris Lutz traveled from Pittsburgh to Ottawa County for Munion's birthday weekend and stopped by Marblehead Lighthouse State Park for the Lake Erie Lighthouse Fair on April 25.
It was their first visit to the area, so they took advantage of the chance to climb to the top of the lighthouse tower.

Morant Point: Jamaica's Oldest Lighthouse
Morant Point, located in the parish of St. Thomas, is Jamaica's easternmost point, and marked by the oldest lighthouse on the island.
Morant Point Lighthouse was built in 1841 by Kru men, a West African ethnic group indigenous to Ivory Coast and Liberia, who were never enslaved and renown for their exceptional maritime skills and seafaring.

This coastal state park 1 hour from San Francisco tripled in size is home to Pigeon Point, the tallest lighthouse on the west coast
Last week, Governor Newsom announced "State Parks Forward," a significant expansion of California State Parks, which involves adding three new park units and thousands of acres of new land.
Here in the Bay Area, one of the biggest expansions is going down at Pigeon Point Light Station State Historic Park, about 50 miles south of San Francisco.

Commissioners give go-ahead to St. Joseph Lighthouse, MI, tours for this summer
St. Joe Today will once again lead tours of the St. Joseph Lighthouse this summer following action this week by city commissioners.
The organization took over management of the tours from the Heritage Museum and Cultural Center last year.
