Two new lighthouse books by David Zapatka

The USLHS is pleased to be releasing two new books with our Director of Photography, David Zapatka.  In his first children's book Ruthie's Big Lighthouse Adventure, David brings to life the 25-year-old recreational vehicle "Ruthie", donated to the project by USLHS Board Member and Educator, Elinor DeWire and her husband, Jon. Designed and written for first readers aged 7-11, Ruthie's Big Lighthouse Adventure brings the reader on the road around the country with Ruthie as she visits lighthouses deep into the night. Its 40 pages offer young readers a look at lighthouse history, geography, navigation, celestial wonders and amazing night images from David Zapatka's travels for the Society's USA Stars & Lights project. Ruthie's Big Lighthouse Adventure will soon be available at lighthouse gift stores around the country and can also be ordered for $17.99 plus shipping directly at this web address:    https://stars-lights.myshopify.com/products/usa-stars-lights-ruthies-big-lighthouse-adventure
In his third release of night lighthouse photography, David Zapatka is pleased to announce its publication with the USLHS. USA Stars & Lights: The Edge of Darkness is 272-pages packed with amazing night images of lighthouses from 26 states visited around the country. David has been photographing lighthouses deep into the night for the past 12 years, and each of the 134 beacons visited in this edition have their own two-page spread. Juxtaposing recent night images with historical ones gleaned from several national archives, the reader learns a bit of history as well as David's adventure creating each new night image. USA Stars & Lights: The Edge of Darknessis the largest edition of the collection, and lighthouse enthusiasts won't want to miss out on adding it to their personal library.
