Investigation underway after on-duty lighthouse keeper dies alone, west of Prince Rupert, B.C.

The Canadian Coast Guard and a federal workers' agency are investigating after an on-duty lighthouse keeper died in April at a station just off the coast of northwestern B.C., about 40 kilometers west of Prince Rupert.

The Triple Island Lighthouse station is supposed to be staffed by a principal and assistant lightkeeper at all times, but due to a shift change, the coast guard says the man was alone when he died.

Restoration of Barcelona, NY, Lighthouse part of $2.9M project

The historic Barcelona Lighthouse Tower on the shore of Lake Erie in Chautauqua County has been restored as part of a nearly $3 million project, according to New York State Parks officials.

The 40-foot-tall stone light tower was built in 1829 and was the world's first natural gas lit lighthouse.

Seul Choix Point Lighthouse, MI, vandalized

An Upper Peninsula lighthouse on Lake Michigan was vandalized this past week, members of the Gulliver Historical Society said in a Facebook post.

On Saturday, the group posted several photos on Facebook showing spray-painted words on signs and buildings at the Seul Choix Point Lighthouse historic site, which also remains an active light on the northern shore of Lake Michigan.

Tower climbs start soon at 115-foot Little Sable Point Lighthouse on Lake Michigan shoreline

This 115-foot lighthouse nestled among sand dune and evergreen forests on the Lake Michigan shoreline will soon be open for tower climbs.

It's a building that can be spotted for miles, but is considered a hidden gem at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The history of the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse is similar to the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The original lighthouse was constructed off the coast of Cape Canaveral in 1848 to warn ships of dangerous shoals, or sand banks. Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Foundation President Ronald Ecker said there was a problem with it though.
