What it's like to moonlight as one of Maine's last lighthouse keepers
For the last 14 years, Matt Rosenberg has taken an unusual mode of transportation to his side gig after wrapping up his day job as a high school English teacher in York, Maine: A paddleboat.

Rosenberg is one of the last lighthouse keepers in Maine, where he maintains the Nubble lighthouse, a popular tourist attraction that draws a million visitors each year to York.

Historic Woman Lighthouse Keeper Topic of Talk at Barnegat Lighthouse, NJ
At the Barnegat Lighthouse Visitors Center on Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m., attend a lecture about lighthouse keeper Ellen S. Low. The talk will also cover 1830s LBI, other women keepers, Low's gown and fashion history.

The Ellen S. Low Gown, designed and researched by Liz Daukas Oliner, honors 19th-century New Jersey's only woman principal lighthouse keeper. See the dress, which accurately represents the fashion of a working woman during that time, on display at the visitor center.

Jersey Shore Landmark (Sandy Hook) Featured on 'Jeopardy!'
If you're a Monmouth County native and a Jeopardy! fan, you were likely pointing at the television and shouting on Tuesday night. An iconic Jersey Shore landmark was a featured answer - and the episode was ultimately won by a charismatic New Jersey native with an inspiring story.

The $400 answer under the "Light Headed" category in the Double Jeopardy! round was, "In service since 1764, the oldest of these navigational aids still operating in the U.S. is the one at Sandy Hook, New Jersey."

This St. Patrick's Day, the Hook Lighthouse is offering complimentary tours to all visitors named Patrick and Patricia as it seeks to celebrate our national holiday in true, patriotic style.

Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, OR, restoration project in progress
The Yaquina Bay Lighthouse in Newport is buttoned up and protected from the weather while a $1.6 million project is underway to completely restore the exterior of the structure.

The project is being done by the Oregon Department of Parks and Recreation, which manages the lighthouse property.

Heceta Head Lightstation Celebrates its 131st birthday March 30th, 2025
From noon to 3pm at the lightkeepers home come celebrate! The community is invited to the light station which has a scenic walking trail from the beach to the Keeper's Home, Gift Shop and lighthouse tower. This is a family-friendly free event.

Hotdogs from Taylor's Sausages and beverages are available. The Long Distance Trio will perform. Local agency representatives will be present to talk about the outstanding natural features of the area, as well as volunteers from the Heceta Lighthouse Interpretive Center at the Keeper's Home and Oregon State Parks volunteers and JR Beaver at the lighthouse tower

'Zillow Gone Wild' spotlights Borden Flats, MA, Lighthouse on Instagram. Is it still for sale?
The Borden Flats Lighthouse, the historic lighthouse in Mount Hope Bay that hosts hundreds of overnight guests every year, was featured on mega-popular Instagram account Zillow Gone Wild on Thursday.

Longtime owner Kevin Ferias has run the lighthouse as a labor of love for over seven years, managing a wildly successful overnight-stay program that has sold out entire season for years at a time.
