Volunteers make it their mission to restore, preserve the Bolivar Point Lighthouse, TX
It's stood as a beacon on Bolivar Peninsula for more than 150 years, and it's still used as a guide to land to this day. But who takes care of the Bolivar Point Lighthouse?
"It's the first thing you see when you come across the ferry, and when you are coming down 87," Amy Maxwell Chase said. Standing tall since 1872 and now re-painted to its former iconic black and white stripes, the Bolivar Point Lighthouse is a piece of Texas history.

Plantings at Sanibel's Lighthouse Beach (FL) to help stabilize the area
The City of Sanibel's Natural Resources Department has been preparing for the final phase of the Lighthouse Beach renourishment project by getting ready to plant nearly 30,000 pieces of dune vegetation.
Yesterday, a team was out sorting, measuring, and preparing the area for plantings. The prepared area started to receive the plantings on Thursday.

Repairs will close Kilauea Point, HI, NWR through April 30
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is temporarily closing Kilauea Point Wildlife Refuge starting Feb. 17 through April 30 to repair the main entry and infrastructure.
Severe storms in 2020 and 2021 damaged the access road and nearby parking areas, a section of fencing and the main waterline servicing the refuge.

100 Years of Jupiter, FL
The Town of Jupiter may think it is celebrating its 100-year anniversary, but two artifacts in the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Museum tell a much more distant story of the area we now know as Jupiter.
Nestling amidst historical photos, artifacts from WWII and a bevy of tools and equipment left over from the lighthouse keepers sit two tiny testaments to the people called the area "home" some 5,000 years ago.

Northland-made 'Murder at the Lighthouse' coming to Lifetime
A new thriller filmed in the Northland, "Murder at the Lighthouse," will premiere Feb. 23 on Lifetime.
According to a plot summary, the movie is about a woman fleeing an abusive ex-partner. While attempting to cross Lake Superior to Canada, she has an accident and is "taken in by a reclusive lighthouse keeper."
