Coastal project aims to save the iconic Tchefuncte River lighthouse (LA)
Since 1837, a lighthouse has stood at the mouth of the Tchefuncte River in Madisonville, where the river spills into Lake Pontchartrain.
Today, however, the lighthouse is at some risk of toppling over or into Lake Pontchartrain.

Ledge Lighthouse in New London (CT) undergoes repairs
The New London Ledge Lighthouse, a historic landmark dating back to 1909, is undergoing extensive repairs to preserve its structure.
Crews have been working for the past three weeks to restore the original brickwork and address structural issues.

Here's how you can stay overnight at - and possibly own - the 143-year-old Borden Flats Lighthouse (MA)
As a lifelong "fanatic" who has photographed nearly every lighthouse in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, Kevin Ferias wanted to do something special with his wife for their 25th wedding anniversary in 2017.
Initially he tried to book a stay at the Rose Island Lighthouse in Newport, but "they were completely sold out," he said.

Split Rock Lighthouse (MN) Edmund Fitzgerald ceremony will be livestreamed
To honor those who died on the SS Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975, the Split Rock Lighthouse in Two Harbors, Minnesota, will host an annual memorial and light a ceremonial beacon on Nov. 10.
On Nov. 10, 1975, the 29 crew aboard the SS Edmund Fitzgerald succumbed to the effects of a storm that sand the ship to the bottom of Lake Superior.

Rumor has it that four-legged ghost at Cape Hatteras (NC) lighthouse rubs against visitors
The remote Outer Banks of North Carolina are prime real estate for scary legends, with the barrier islands linked to everything from a notorious lost colony to a ghost ship that ran aground with no crew.
However, the strangest among the stories may be a large ghost cat that is rumored to haunt the 154-year-old lighthouse.

The ranking examines historical sites, old houses, hotels, cemeteries and more, using factors like Tripadvisor ratings and the number of mentions for keywords like "Haunted," "Spooky," and "Scary" to figure out which locations placed on top.
Worldwide, Mary King's Close (No1) in the United Kingdom and Eastern State Penitentiary (No. 2) in Philadelphia made the top cut.
