Meet Frances Johnson, Michigan's last female lighthouse keeper

Michigan's last female lighthouse keeper not only brought distinction to her hometown, but put her small Lake Michigan town in the national spotlight back in the 1950's.

Volunteers revive Rock of Ages Lighthouse on Isle Royale, MI

Volunteers Repaint Celoron (Faux) Lighthouse, NY

A group of volunteers has donated their time to repaint the lighthouse in Celoron.

Darryl Anderson, Randy Coone, Mark Donato, Marla Myers, Missy Myers, Bill Lange and Timothy Jay Watson worked throughout July and August to replace the lighthouse roof and paint the building.

Bakers Island lighthouse (MA) shines, thanks to Green Mountain Energy Sun Club

The historic Bakers Island Light Station at the entrance of Salem Sound currently runs on 100% renewable energy, thanks to a $45,000 sustainability grant from Green Mountain Energy Sun Club. This charitable program is supported through NRG Energy Inc.'s renewable energy brand Green Mountain Energy.

Baker's Island, MA - Jeremy D'Entremont

The grant, which was provided to Essex Heritage in 2020, funded the installation of an off-grid 1.83-kilowatt solar array and battery storage system on the island to generate and store electricity for the lighthouse and two 19th-century keeper's houses.

National Lighthouse Museum (NY) celebrates a decade and remembers community leaders along the way

Well wishers gathered aboard the Cornucopia Destiny for a harbor cruise and a unique gala titled "Lighting Our Way with Royalty" hosted by Linda Dianto, the executive director of the National Lighthouse Museum.
