Cape Canaveral Lighthouse (FL) awarded $775,000 tourism grant for new attractions
Brevard County commissioners on Tuesday approved a $775,000 grant to the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Foundation to build new facilities at the property. With the approved grant money, the foundation will add two light-keeper's cottages, including one intended to be an immersive-experience historical cottage. With the new approvals, groundbreaking on the project is expected to begin within a year.
Funding for the lighthouse project will come from money generated by Brevard county's 5% tourist development tax on hotel rooms, vacation rentals and other short-term rentals.

While Working As A Lighthouse Keeper In Rhode Island, She Saved The Lives Of 18 People, Becoming Known As The Bravest Woman In America
Once known as the bravest woman in America, Ida Lewis held an important job as a lighthouse keeper and rescued many people from drowning in the waters off Newport, Rhode Island.
According to Coast Guard records, she saved the lives of 18 people, including some soldiers from nearby Fort Adams. Until 2020, she was the only woman to receive the Coast Guard's Gold Lifesaving Medal.

Port Washington (WI) north breakwater lighthouse repairs $2.2M grant awarded
Port Washington officials announced on Tuesday, Sept. 17 the city has been awarded a $2,231,900 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) for the preservation of the historic north breakwater lighthouse
The total project cost is estimated at $2,814,875.

Behind-the-scenes tours of iconic Big Sable lighthouse (MI) scheduled for October
Special behind-the-scenes tours of this iconic Lake Michigan Lighthouse will be offered for the first time next month, officials announced.
Despite this are of Ludington State Park being closed for construction, there will be four bus and tour days at the Big Sable Point Light on Saturdays in October, the Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association announced.
