Frankfort (MI) raises awareness for Lighthouse Restoration Project
The City of Frankfort's Lighthouse is a staple to their Maritime History. Now the Lighthouse Restoration Project is raising awareness to help raise the funds they need to fulfill this project.
The lighthouse was first built in 1912, making it 112 years old. During 1932, the second portion of the lighthouse was built where it is now. They then moved the first portion to the top making it what it is today. With that age comes a lot of damage for the much-needed restoration.

Waterfront real estate for $450,000? It's the Smith Point Lighthouse, VA
Smith Point Lighthouse isn't for the faint of heart (or stomach). Getting there, about three miles from shore, requires a journey by boat that can take up to an hour on a choppy day. The entrance consists of two corroded ladders wobbling with every gust of wind. A railing with missing rungs hovers above the tempestuous waters below.
The structure- three stories tall, white paint peeling off the distressed brick - can seem imposing.
