San Pedro's (Point Fermin, CA) historic lighthouse serves lunch for veterans and active-duty service members

While throngs of festival goers flooded the waterfront on Friday, May 24, a bucolic scene unfolded on the south-facing  bluffs overlooking San Pedro's rugged coastline.

An outdoor gathering of some 100 people, including some veterans and active-duty service members, came together to mark the arrival of LA Fleet Week- but also to remember the 150th anniversary of the Point Fermin Lighthouse.

Norwalk annual oyster, cocktail party to benefit Sheffield Island (CT) Lighthouse

Norm Bloom and Sons' Copps Island Oysters will host the Norwalk Seaport Association's annual "Docktails and Oysters," where proceeds will refurbish the historic Sheffield Island Lighthouse.

From 5 p.m. on June 8, attendees can eat fresh oysters and other appetizers to fund the refurbishing of "a unique historical and educational venue that strives to increase awareness, appreciation, and consideration for the environment and how the preservation of historic buildings contributes to our quality of life," a Norwalk Seaport Association statement said.

First Huntington (NY) Lighthouse tours happens this Sunday, with more to follow

The Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society is kicking of the 2024 summer season with the first of many boat rides to the island landmark in Huntington Bay.

Eagle Bluff (WI) Lighthouse Reopens May 24

Starting Friday, May 24, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in Peninsula State Park.

Lighthouse keeper and volunteer Ed Miller said despite exterior restoration and renovation work and the Fresnel lens in storage during repairs, tours will take place at Eagle Bluff Lighthouse as usual.

That's the message the Cape Lookout Lighthouse signals to those at sea along North Carolina's coastline.

The lighthouse is located just off Harkers Island where it stands watch over the Cape Lookout Shoals. That's where the shallow water earned the shoals, its foreboding nickname due to the threat of running aground and other difficult conditions sailors often face in the area, such as wind and a conversion of currents.

The Delta County Historical Society and Sand Point Lighthouse are now open for the summer season.
