St Mary's Lighthouse (UK) in Whitley Bay set for refurbishment after plans submitted
Plans have been submitted by North Tynside Council for the refurbishment of St. Mary's lighthouse.
Whitley Bay's coastal icon, alongside its visitor centre, birdhouse, sea and boundary walls is set for a facelift pending council approval. The plans involve cleaning down the lighthouse, and the surrounding infrastructure on the island, firstly using a pressure washer "taking care not to damage the surface."

Boats, Eldred Rock Lighthouse, churches among sites named as Alaska's most at-risk historic properties
Visitors on Sept. 4, 2021, stroll by the historic chapel and buildings used for classrooms and dormitories that remain standing at Pilgrim Hot Springs. The site was used as an orphanage for Bering Strait-area children who lost their parents to the 1918-19 influenza epidemic.
Pilgrim Hot Springs is among the state's 11 most endangered historic properties, according to an annual list released by Preservation Alaska.

Big Sable Point (MI) Lighthouse to open for season Tuesday
Sable Point Lighthouse Keepers Association is set to open the Big Sable Point Lighthouse on Tuesday, May 7 at 10 a.m., according to SPLKA Marketing Manager Emily Anson.
"We begin our season for tours," she said. "Tours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.'

Highland Light (MA) reopens to public after renovation: What to know about the Truro lighthouse
Highland Light in Truro is looking pretty spiffy these days.
According to the Cape Cod National Seashore, the legendary lighthouse has a new breathable coating, and masonry has been repaired, part of a recent renovation project that will be celebrated at a rededication ceremony at 10 a.m. on May 3.

Visitors to the JetCoast flight and hotel search engine were recently asked to vote for their favorite lighthouse. The survey aimed to identify the top twenty lighthouses across the continent based on their breathtaking beauty.

Round Island, Point Iroquois (MI) Lighthouses, storied Ludington district among winners of state's historic preservation awards
What's happening: The 21st annual Governor's Awards for Historic Preservation were bestowed upon four historic preservation projects throughout the state earlier this month, with Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist II awarding efforts in the Hiawatha National Forest region, Inkster, the Keweenaw Peninsula, and Ludington. The awards are hosted by the State Historic Preservation Office.
What won: Three of the four winning projects occurred in Michigan's rural area and communities, detailed below.

Partners in Preservation: Rock of Ages (MI) Lighthouse Preservation Society
My first glimpse of Rock of Ages Lighthouse came from a small boat, navigating slowly through a thick fog. The radar and chart plotter agreed... it was right in front of us.
It was not until we were 20 yards away that the 10-story beacon revealed itself in the mist.

Harrison's Point Lighthouse Barbados
An abandoned lighthouse located on the cliffs of Barbados.
Harrison's Lighthouse stands looking over the Caribbean Sea on the northwest coast of Barbados. The building has been abandoned since circa 2007, but was constructed around the 1920s, some of the outbuilding remain including the keeper's house.
