Restoration work kicked off last week at the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in Peninsula State Park, starting at the top.
Door County Historical Society leaders called in one of the only four of five lampists in the nation to repair the Fresnel lens.

Hudson-Athens (NY) Lighthouse placed on national list of endangered places
Surrounded by the Hudson River, the Hudson-Athens lighthouse has stood for 150 years. And now, a new recognition is boosting the effort to ensure it stands for 150 more.
As the lighthouse watches from across a swollen springtime Hudson River, Athens Mayor Amy Serrago jokingly refers to the structure as the small village's 1,587th resident.

Marshall Point (ME) Lighthouse walkway closed due to storm damage
Visitors to Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde will still be able to enjoy the scenery, but they won't be able to get photos from the iconic walkway.
Marshall Point Lighthouse & Museum announced this week that, due to damage to the walkway caused by the back-to-back storms in January, they cannot safely open the walkway.

Historic Tawas Point (MI) Lighthouse celebrates grand reopening
The historic Tawas Point Lighthouse has undergone many changes ahead of the Summer season.
The public received a sneak peak of the grand reopening of the Tawas Point Lighthouse.
May 2nd marks 147 years since a light first shone from the tower's lantern room onto Tawas Bay and Lake Huron.

Renovated, 4-Bedroom Smith Point (VA) Lighthouse For Sale
Real estate agent Beth Groner accepts plenty of referrals through her work with the Keller Williams Agency in Reedville, Virginia. But an offer to represent the owner of a Chesapeake Bay lighthouse was a new one.
"The owner purchased the lighthouse directly from the General Services Administration's Lighthouse Program through an auction back in 2005," she says. "He would come out for the first four or five years renovating it, trying to get it into a livable state."

U.S. Marines, Okinawa citizens honor World War II casualties / le Shima Lighthouse Memorial Service 2024
U.S. Marines, Japanese coast guardsmen, and Okinawan officials honored the casualties of WWII during the annual le Shima Lighthouse Memorial Service on le Shima, Okinawa, Japan, April 21.
Seventy-nine years ago, during the Okinawa campaign of WWII, a lighthouse keeper and eight of his family members were killed during an air raid on le Shima. Every year since then, a ceremony is held in remembrance of the family and the many other casualties of WWII.

A lighthouse in Jersey will remain floodlit for two more weeks due to popular demand.
Ports of Jersey will light up Corbiere lighthouse until 12 May as part of its 150th anniversary

Cape Bear (Canada) Lighthouse group hopes Titanic tie will help it land $50K grand prize
The volunteer group that operates P.E.I.'s Cape Bear Lighthouse and Marconi Station is hoping the site's connection to the Titanic will help attract votes in a national competition, with a $50,000 grand prize on the line.
This is the second year for the Next Great Save , organized by the National Trust for Canada, with 12 finalists vying for a total of $65,000 in prize money.

Effort to save historic Ile Greenly (Canada) lighthouse site on remote Quebec island up for $50K prize
A group of citizens working to restore historic homes of former keepers on an island in easternmost Quebec has a shot at $50,000 to make their project a reality.
The initiative is a finalist in this year's National Trust of Canada Next Great Save Contest.

Green light for car park improvement works at Souter Lighthouse (UK) complex
Plans to upgrade the car park of a major South Tyneside visitor attraction have been given the green light by borough development bosses.
South Tyneside Council's planning department has approved an application for the Souter Lighthouse complex off the Coast Road between South Shields and Whitburn.
