Think a lighthouse stop will be quick, peaceful photo and little ocean air? In Maine some lighthouse spots have gotten tourist-ruined by fence-hopping and nonstop photo shoot traffic, and the vibe can flip from calm coastal magic to crowded chaos fast.
The problem is not people loving the view. It is the way a few bad habits snowball, when visitors climb over barriers for a better angle, trample fragile edges, or block paths while they chase the perfect shot.

Sheboygan to apply for ownership of iconic Breakwater Lighthouse, WI
During the City of Sheboygan Public Works meeting held on Monday, Feb. 23., DPW committee members recommended final approval from the Common Council for the City of Sheboygan officials to submit an application for the purchase of the Sheboygan Breakwater Lighthouse.
Res. No. 170-25-26 by Alderpersons Dekker and Rust authorizing the appropriate City officials to submit an application to purchase the Sheboygan Breakwater Lighthouse was approved.

Best Building: Grosse Point Lighthouse, IL, wins for 3rd year in a row
Evanston's Grosse Point Lighthouse, constructed in 1873, has long been a reminder of local history.
It was originally built to guide ships toward Chicago's harbor. More than a century later, in 1999, the lighthouse became the first in the Great Lakes region to gain the title of a National Historic Landmark.

Pontchartrain Conservancy to show "The Goonies" at the New Canal Lighthouse, LA
Friday March 6, Pontchartrain Conservancy is offering community members the opportunity to attend a free screening of The Goonies at the New Canal Lighthouse located at 8001 Lakeshore Dr. in New Orleans as part of the New Orleans Recreation Department Commission's spring Movie in the Park series.
