Indian Lighthouse tourism sees fivefold rise in a decade

The two-day Indian Lighthouse Festival 3.0 concluded on a high note, with Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal saying the event helped the city of Viskhapatnam emerge as a 'beacon of India's maritime heritage and coastal culture."

Sheboygan, WI, residents relieved historic lighthouse gets new hope as city steps up for repairs

The 110-year-=old Big Red Lighthouse in Sheboygan has been deteriorating for years, but the city is now taking action to preserve this iconic landmark after the federal government stepped away from lighthouse maintenance responsibilities.

Coast Guard hosts Point Vicente Lighthouse, CA, open house

The Friends of the Point Vicente Lighthouse hosted local historian Jim Schneer on Saturday, Jan 10. during the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary's monthly open house at the lighthouse.

Point Vicente, CA - Kent Weymouth 

Schneer discussed the 100th anniversary of the Rancho Palos Verdes lighthouse, which showed its first beam of light on April 14, 1926.

Rose Island Lighthouse & Fort Hamilton Trust, RI, launches first-ever endowment fund

The Rose Island Lighthouse & Fort Hamilton Trust has established its first-ever permanent endowment fund in partnership with the Rhode Island Foundation, marking a major milestone for the organization that preserves Newport Harbor's historic island landmarks.

Coastside Country wins lighthouse dance-off

A Local line dancing club earned Pigeon Point Lighthouse national recognition this month by placing the landmark in a three-way tie for first place in the U.S. Lighthouse Society's Dance Off competition.

Members of the Coastside County, led by Hillary Stamper and Carol Hunter, assembled with park rangers in front of Pigeon Point Lighthouse last month to film their entry for the competition which pitted dancers at lighthouse sites across the country against each other.

RFQ issued for Manitoba's Gull Harbor lighthouse replacement

A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) has been issued to find a contractor for the Gull Harbor Historic Light House Replacement in Manitoba.

The Canadian Coast Guard is proposing to complete a full rebuild of the Gull Harbor Lighthouse, which is located on federal land and is bordered by Hecla-Grindstone Provincial Park near Arborg, Manitoba.
