SS Edmund Fitzgerald commemoration at Split Rock Lighthouse, MN, sells out
The 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald's sinking, being held at Split Rock Lighthouse on November 10, has sold out.
A representative from the Minnesota Historical Society said a record-breaking 2,000 in-person tickets were sold.

A deadly history haunts the St. George Reef Lighthouse, CA. Here's why fans want to save it
John Gibbons shivered in the back of the little boat hauling him to his first assignment as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard.
It was 1953. Gibbons was a baby-faced 18-year-old kid from Ohio who had only recently seen the ocean for the first time. And he had fresh orders to get to work a one of the country's most isolated- and most dangerous - lighthouses.

Plans explored to rebuild St. Mary's Island, UK, causeway
Options are being explored to rebuild an aging causeway to an island and lighthouse.
North Tyneside Council said it is considering whether it can rebuild the 900ft (274m) link to St Mary's Lighthouse in Whitley Bay following last year's £900,000 restoration of the lighthouse which was built in 1898.

Jeremy D'Entremont presents 'The History of the Flying Santa'
The Groton Public Library invites the community to take flight through time with "The History of the Flying Santa of the Lighthouses, 1929-2025" presented by lighthouse historian Jeremy D.Entremont virtually at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3.
Since 1929, the "Flying Santa" has been a beloved New England tradition, inaugurated by Bill Wincapaw, a pioneering Maine pilot.

An island off Massachusetts' Coast Is A Car & Road-Free Gem
Egg Rock, known for an iconic dog named Milo who assisted the lighthouse keeper in saving ships from ruin and rescued local children, sits just off the coast of Nahant and now serves as a bird sanctuary.
The Misery Islands, a tiny duo of forested land off Salem's coast, used to be the home of a club where Boston's high society would reside to attend seasonal tournaments and regattas.

Five lighthouses have been turned into hotels that can be stayed in by tourists as they explore Spain.
The first is located in La Palma - named Hotel Faro de Punta Cumplida - and is an ideal romantic escape with large windows that overlook the water and bright open spaces.
