The Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society will have two memorials in honor of the 50th anniversary since the Edmund Fitzgerald sand on Lake Superior.

The commemorative ceremonies will happen on Monday, Nov. 10, with a public ceremony happening at 2 p.m. and a private memorial at 7 p.m.

Work To Take Place At Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, Bermuda

The Department of Marine and Ports Services advised that crane operations will be taking place at Gibbs Hill Lighthouse on Monday, 20 October 2025, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to "facilitate the removal of the radar and essential repairs to the Lighthouse walkway/birdcage."

A Government spokesperson said, "During this time, public access to the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, its grounds, and the surrounding area will be closed to ensure the safety of both visitors and work crews.

Help us make our third annual Lighthouse Dance Off the best ever!

The U.S. Lighthouse Society is thrilled to announce our third Annual Dance Off, and this year promises to be more exciting than ever! Mark your calendars because you have until December 15th to showcase your dance skills and creativity.
Choose your rhythm from our fabulous selection of songs across various genres like swing, ballet, disco, and more! Each piece is around two minutes long, giving you ample time to shine. To join in the fun, simply film your dance video at or near a lighthouse. While your video can tell a story, just remember: at least half of it should feature some kind of dancing. The video can feature your friends, family, staff, volunteers, students from a local dance school—or just you! Let those creative juices flow.
 
2025 U.S. Lighthouse Society Dance Contest
We will choose five finalists, and overall creativity and spirit are the most important criteria. The finalists will have their videos featured during a spectacular live virtual USLHS New Year's Eve event where YOU—our audience—get to choose the ultimate winner.
 
We will donate to the favorite lighthouse or lighthouse-related organization of the finalists as follows: $500 for first place, $250 for second and third place, and $100 for fourth and fifth place. Join us for an unforgettable celebration and let’s make this Dance Off the best one yet! Don’t miss out—get your entry in before the deadline.
