Efforts underway to ensure Lake Sunapee, NH, lighthouses last longer
You may not know it, but the water of Lake Sunapee are home to three lighthouses.
They were built in the era of the grand steamboats, which traveled around the lake from the 1880s to the 1930s, carrying passengers to the grand hotels that once loomed large on the lake's edge.

Lake County, OH, lighthouses to be featured in TV documentary series
A three-part documentary series created by a public television station in Northwest Ohio will focus on eight Lake Erie lighthouses - including two in Lake County.
The Fairport Harbor Marine Museum and Lighthouse and Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Lighthouse will be featured in the WBGU-PBS project titled "Illuminating The Great Lakes: Lighthouses of Lake Erie."

Waves batter Grand Haven Michigan Lighthouse as powerful cold front sweeps through
Powerful waves slammed into one of western Michigan's most recognizable lighthouses Friday as a significant cold front swept across the Great Lakes, bringing dangerous conditions to coastal areas.
National Weather Service offices across the state issued marine warnings and beach hazard statements, urging swimmers, boaters and pier-goers to stay away from the water.

A new manager is being sought for Ardnamurchan Lighthouse on the Ardnamurchan Point in the Highlands.

Lighthouse lovers say happy birthday to Owl's Head Station, ME
Local residents and tourists gathered Wednesday, Sept. 10 for a ceremony to mark the 200th anniversary of the Owl's Head Light Station.
Bob Trapani Jr., the executive director of the American Lighthouse Foundation, provided the history of the light station to the people who gathered for the event.

Kilauea Point, HI, storm damage repairs underway
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has announced the start of a project for storm damage repairs to the Daniel K. Inouye Kilauea Point Lighthouse.
Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, located at the northern-most point of the major Hawaiian Islands and one of three refuges within the Kaua'i NWR Complex, provides one of the most important seabirds habitat sites in the State of Hawai'i and is home to the iconic lighthouse, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979.

Another successful Sunrise Lighthouse Photography cruise
Another successful Sunrise Lighthouse Photography cruise is in the books and we have the photos to show for it.
Nearly 20 individuals were aboard the vessel Balmy Days out of Pier 8 to attend the annual cruise for the unique opportunity to see and photograph the area lighthouses.

Effort reignited to restore Fourteen Foot Bank, DE, Lighthouse
After the structure sat virtually untouched for nearly two decades, the owner of the Fourteen Foot Bank Lighthouse is reigniting an effort to restore the historic beacon that sits about 3 1/2 miles off the coast of Bowers Beach.
Michael Lynn Gabriel purchased the lighthouse during an online auction in 2007 for $200,000.

Eldred Rock, AK, Lighthouse restoration
Eldred Rock Lighthouse, a lone figure in the middle of the Lynn Canal, has been officially out of commission since 1975.
Now 120 years old, the lighthouse is being restored by a non-profit, the Eldred Rock Lighthouse Preservation Association (ERLPA), who hope to open it to the public next summer.
