Sandy Hook, NJ, will hold an evening lighthouse climb Aug. 30
The National Park Service will host a guided climb of the famous Sandy Hook Lighthouse this Saturday, August. 30.
These will be free tours led by a park ranger, who will give visitors a history of the lighthouse, and all of Sandy Hook, which used to be a U.S. Army base.

Warwick Neck, RI, Lighthouse's future uncertain as it heads to auction
The future of the historic Warwick Neck Lighthouse remains up in the air as the federal government prepares it for auction.
The General Services Administration (GSA) announced two years ago that the Warwick Neck Lighthouse was one of six lighthouses nationwide that were being offered at no cost to certain entities that were willing to maintain and preserve them.

Two historic lighthouses in Duluth, MN, could be open for tours in the next few years
A historic lighthouse in Duluth may be open for tours to the public in two years - if the group that acquired it can raise the funds needed to clean and restore it.
With a distinctive red roof and white square exterior, the Duluth Harbor South Breakwater Outer Light was built in 1901.

Group working to preserve keeper's house at Callam Bay, WA
A travel article in the Oct. 7, 1928, Seattle Post-Intelligencer said Clallam Bay "furnishes an interesting spot for motorists" and its Slip Point Lighthouse the highlight of a trip in a LaSalle sedan on "excellent gravel roads" out of Port Angeles.
The lighthouse is now gone (and the roads are now paved), but a group in Clallam Bay is working toward saving the 1905 keeper's house that is still standing and preserve a slice of local history it believes could be a centerpiece of a revitalized town.

Bright white Port Washington, WI, lighthouse unveiled
Tarp removed from port landmark, revealing long-awaited new coat of paint, but scaffolding remains as work shifts to restoration of base.
Visitors to the Port Washington lakefront during the past week have gotten a glimpse of the city's iconic lighthouse with its new coat of bright white paint.

Cape Meares, OR, Lighthouse turns 135
On August 16, the Friends of Cape Meares Lighthouse and other community organizations welcomed the public to a celebration of the lighthouse's 135th birthday.
Staff from Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Tillamook Pioneer Museum, and volunteers from the Tillamook Master Gardeners, Garibaldi Cultural Initiative and Friends of Netarts Bay Watershed, Estuary, Beach and Sea offered activities and tours of the lighthouse during the event.

Pemaquid Point, ME, Lighthouse Park files for permit to fix coastal bluff
Nearly two years after a pair of powerful winter storms pummeled Maine's coastline, steps are finally being taken to protect one of the state's most visited historic sites.
A permit has been filed and a $1 million matching grant requested to address severe erosion along the bluff at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park.
