Foggy dawn operation returns historic lantern to the beloved Yaquina Bay, OR, Lighthouse

Eight months ago, construction crews carried away the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse lantern, trucking it about 2,500 miles away to Alabama for some much-needed care.

Early Tuesday, under cover of a foggy dawn sky, crews carefully guided the 11,000 pound lantern back to its rightful spot up top, signaling the upcoming reopening of Oregon's second most visited state park.

Cana Island Lighthouse, WI, in Door County provides update on storm recovery

The Cana Island Lighthouse had provided an update on its recovery from the weekend storms that damaged parts of Door County.

According to a Tuesday update, Cana Island remains closed as staff continue cleaning up downed trees and other debris in the area.

'Its just been eroding': Restoration efforts begin this fall to save Muskegon's historic lighthouse 

Restoration efforts will soon be underway to save one of Muskegon's most beloved landmarks, the Muskegon South Breakwater Lighthouse.

Fundraiser assists in Ashtabula West Breakwater Lighthouse, OH, maintenance 

The Ashtabula Lighthouse Fish Fry is a tradition for many area residents who come every year to support the iconic structure that greets boaters to the area.
