Fairport Harbor, OH, boat parade to celebrate lighthouses

The anniversaries of Fairport Harbor's two historic lighthouses will be celebrated with a boat parade starting at 6 p.m. Saturday Aug. 2.

Boats will be decorated with July 4, Halloween and Christmas themes. Prizes will be given to the best in each category.

Big Sable Point, MI, will soon reopen

Lighthouse lovers will soon get a chance to once again explore Big Sable Point, among Michigan's most historic lighthouses along the Great Lakes.

Coastal project gives Lake Pontchartrain, LA,  landmark a new lease on life

For several years, Tommy Costanza has been coming to the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse, the Lake Pontchartrain landmark in Madisonville.

Sand Point Lighthouse opens for summer in Escanaba, MI

A lighthouse and museum are now open for you to visit this summer in Escanaba.

Thomas Point Light, MD, Celebrates 150th Birthday With Flotilla of Classic Lighthouse Tenders

This summer marks a milestone on the Chesapeake Bay: 150th anniversary of the iconic Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse, the last surviving screwpile lighthouse still in its original location in the Bay.

9 Washington lighthouse hikes to do this summer

With its wild coasts and hundreds of islands, Washington has its fair share of lighthouses.

Cape Henlopen Beacon, DE, battled Mother Nature

The Cape Henlopen Beacon is not the infamous Cape Henlopen Lighthouse. The beacon was located just a little farther north on the Point of Cape Henlopen.

Due to the constantly shifting sands of the Cape, Congress authorized a new lighthouse in 1824 for $3,000. It stood 45 feet tall and was made of stone.

Huntington Lighthouse, NY, celebrates 40 years of preservation, kicks off 2025 tour season

The Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society (HLPS) is marking its 40th anniversary this year with expanded public tours, a new website and ongoing renovation efforts to maintain the 113-year-old landmark.

Founded in 1985 to save the offshore lighthouse from demolition, HLPS has since raised over $3.5 million for preservation and restoration, relying entirely on volunteers, donations, grants and seasonal events.
