BREMERHAVEN
One of the 'must-see' lights of Germany will be our destination on Saturday. We will cross the ground of the sea at low tide to the island of Neuwerk, and return to Bremerhaven via ferry in the evening. Neuwerk is the home of the oldest building on the German coast. It was built around 1300-1310 and served as a daybeacon for 500 years before being converted to a lighthouse in 1814 by the addition of a large lantern on the roof.

In the morning, we will visit the lights of Brinkamahof, and Geeste, the old harbor of Bremerhaven. Then on to the range lights of Bremerhaven - the front light is cast iron crowned with a ball and spire, while the rear range is an elegant New Gothic brick tower. You will have the afternoon and evening free to explore Bremerhaven. You may wish to visit the emigration museum, which has thousands of names and dates of people who left Europe 100 years ago for America. Bremerhaven is also home to the German Maritime Museum.
