MORE TOUR DETAILS:

The Baltic States have a storied history rich with shifting political and cultural identities and are steeped in maritime traditions. The Latvian word for lighthouse is bāka, giving us the word “beacon.” Estonian coasts are dotted with historical lighthouses that have guided seafarers from all over Europe since the 16th century. On the Baltic Jewels Tour, travelers will be immersed in the past, visiting beacons of antiquity that are both inspiring and engaging.

For fifteen days, lighthouse lovers will travel the Gulf of Finland, visit fairytale cities, and explore extraordinary lighthouses. Kopu, the 3rd oldest lighthouse in the world, has been continuously used for almost 500 years and will be a key stop along the way. Days will be spent visiting and climbing lighthouses, fortresses and wonderful old churches (many with magnificent tall steeples used as Baltic Range & Day Markers for centuries). Visits to vibrant cities such as Riga and Tallinn will serve as forays into the diverse cultural fabric of these dynamic countries. It’s not hard to understand why there are so many incredible lighthouses in this small corner of the Baltic region. The Gulf of Finland is the only ocean gateway to Saint Petersburg - the Western jewel in the Russian Crown. For centuries the Tsars and leaders of Russia have done everything possible to ensure safe passage for their trading ships. Join us as we follow their journey!
