The United States Lighthouse Society sponsors a Passport Program. A passport with a blue vinyl cover, similar in appearance to an official United States passport, is available through the Society and lighthouse retailers across the U.S. When you visit a participating lighthouse, you can get your passport stamped. U.S. Lighthouse Service Efficiency Star - $6.50
The 1912 report of the Bureau of Lighthouses to Congress stated, in part, "To promote efficiency and friendly rivalry among lighthouse keepers, a system of efficiency stars and pennants has been established. Keepers who have been commended for efficiency at each quarterly inspection during the year are entitled to wear the inspector's star for the next year, and those who receive the inspector's star for three successive years will be entitled to wear the Commissioner's star..."
As a Society exclusive, we offer exact reproductions of the Inspector's and Commissioner's stars. If you're feeling efficient (or know someone who is), one of these pins will look dandy on your hat or lapel.

The Inspector's star is red enamel on brass, and measures l - l/8 inches in diameter.
Commissioner's Star
The Commissioner's star is the same size but is blue enamel on brass.

Marblehead Lighthouse, 1903, an art print by Rick Henkel - $48.00
Built in 1821, Marblehead is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the Great Lakes. Rick spent hundreds of hours studying original sources so he could depict the tower, staircase, lantern, and lens in historically accurate detail.
