The Society maintains one of the largest historical lighthouse archives in the world. In the archive, we have well over 2,000 lighthouse books and we are adding to the library constantly. In addition, we maintain files on every lighthouse in the United States as well as important lighthouses around the world. Our digital files contain over 100,000 items with thousands of photos and drawings of lighthouses around the world. We also maintain lighthouse scrapbooks and microfilms.

Unfortunately we cannot loan out books from the archive, but we can connect you with historians and researchers with access to the archive at our headquarters at the Point-No-Point Lighthouse.  We can also supply digital information for special requests.

Much of the archive is already active on this site and many more items will be added as time allows. Remember we are a volunteer organization and we can only add to this website as time permits.

Please note that most of the books held by the Society have been relocated to The Mariner's Museum in Newport News, Virginia and that a significant portion of the Society's archives have been added to the Lighthouse Research Catalog.

Members can request access to the archive by contacting our headquarters at: info@uslhs.org
